Just when one thought that FGW could not improve on some of the recent farce situations, the record is again broken, for on the morning of 3 February 2007, the previous nights down Paddington-Penzance sleeper service was captured passing Dawlish at 10.16. Following failure of the booked englne soon after departure, the train eventually formed the 06.15 Paddington-Penzance (running 33 late from London and 50 late by the time it rached Dawlish) powered by No. 57602.
